Well folks, you never know what a new day will bring, do you?
After being dark for 2 1/2 years, Aardvark’s Aattic is making it’s (triumphant?) comeback. I had found the whole ordeal of making any kind of changes to the Aattic was becoming more and more cumbersome, demanding time from me that I just did not have to give.
So, I waited.
About a year and a half ago I took a shot at redesigning the site in DotNetNuke, a Content Management System (CMS) which promised ease of updating but found it to be a poorly documented, unwieldy behemoth which was demanding almost as much of my time to learn even the basics as it would have done to remain in the old ASP.Net / HTML world.
So I waited.
Then I started to discover a fairly common thread cropping up in a goodly number of websites that I frequented. More and more of them were turning to a CMS called WordPress. Now, originally I thought of WordPress as more of a blogging tool and not really fit for website design. Over time, that opinion changed. While the new Aardvark’s Aattic has, in many ways, the look and feel of a blog, it actually has pretty decent website design elements. So I took the plunge.
Without boring you with anymore details, let me just say here and now that I hope to be making more timely updates to the site. I’ve really missed the fun of having a website and sharing with all the denizens of the Aattic. I have brought over and expanded a true labour of love from the old Aattic, Aardvark’s Concert Aarchives along with some reviews and other such ephemera. As time goes on I will continue to add existing content to the new format, as well as creating new and, hopefully, engaging content.
Shameless plug: If you are looking to purchase anything from Amazon.com please do so by clicking on any of their links I have throughout the Aattic. I get a small percentage for the referral and, moving forward, it will help me to cover the costs of running this site. End of shameless plug
To all of you returning to Aardvark’s Aattic I say, thanks for hanging in there. For those new to the site I say Welcome to the Jungle baby!
