Comments: I won these tickets from a local radio station, CKAR if memory still serves me. I asked a friend, Ray, to accompany me. I had first heard of Teenage Head when Mike, the owner of Star Records in Oshawa, played me their debut single, Picture My Face sometime in 1978. I really lost track of them until their 1980 album release, Frantic City, came out with the iconic “Nice day for a party” intro to the classic Teenage Head track Disgusteen. That tape made it’s way into my car cassette player very frequently for the next six odd months after it’s release.
By the time I went to see them play live four years had passed since they first burst on the scene, causing a riot at The Last Pogo concert on December 1, 1978 at the Horseshoe Tavern. Punk rock was definitely on the wane yet the band, and especially Venom, still had the self same punk ethos on full display. While by no means the most musically tight concert I have ever seen, it certainly ranks up there in terms of sheer energy.
