I Like the Way This is Going

I like your toothy smile
It never fails to beguile
Whichever way the wind is blowing
I like the way this is going

I like the colour of your hair
I think we make a perfect pair
I can only see my love growing
I like the way this is going

As life is wont to do, my concert going has been severely limited in the 10’s. With the price of tickets going through the roof, it is very hard to justify the expenditure. I know, doesn’t sound to rock ‘n’ roll, does it. But it is, nonetheless, the truth of the matter. Having said that, I have rediscovered the joy of discovering lesser known, up and coming bands on their way to goodness only knows where. For lack of a better term, I’ve gone “back to the bars”.

That being said, I have still managed to catch Aerosmith and Kim Mitchell, he of Max Webster fame, in concert. The vast majority of my “big ticket” concert experience of late has been going to see the annual Trans-Siberian Orchestra Christmas trek; and as limited concert going constraints go, it’s still pretty freaking cool. If you’ve never managed to see TSO live then you really, REALLY must do so, post haste. I also managed to see fellow Cannuck David Wilcox for the very first time, the reconstituted Teenage Head and Q107 Homegrown winners Honeymoon Suite, all on the same night; the 2013 Q107 Summer Bash, held down at the Sound Academy.

The highlight of the 10’s so far has been catching Elton John for the first time ever, and from a fantastic seat to boot. Seventh row floors, right in front of the Rocket Man himself. And, yes, I did bring my camera, so check out that set list if no others.

Even now, I have managed to catch a new band, the Eels in a venue I have never been in before, the Winter Garden Theatre. Not too shabby all in all.

And that’s all I have to say about that…
